The School of Foreign Languages attaches great importance to international cooperation and exchange. Each year a considerable number of students and teachers are sent abroad for further study, joint research or cultural exchange, especially those who serve as volunteers in the four Confucius Institutes which have been established by Hubei University in the United States, Brazil, Poland, and the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe respectively. The Confucius Institute at the University of Memphis and the Confucius Institute at Sao Paulo State University have been awarded the honorary title of “Excellent Confucius Institute around the world”. From 2013 to 2017, more than thirteen postgraduates have been sent to teach Mandarin in the Confucius Institutes in the United States, Brazil and Poland, which has helped promote mutual understanding and friendship between China and foreign countries.
